Casey Grant and Sarah Baum win South Coast Fever X titles at St Mikes

2010 SA Team member Casey Grant of Scottburgh took the honours in the 2A Men’s division of the South Coast Fever X surf contest which was completed in one metre (2 to 3 foot) surf at St Mikes on Sunday (December 19).

Grant crowned a successful 2010 with this year-end victory beating Klee Strachan of Winkelspruit into second place by 10 points to 9. World Qualifying Series campaigner Brandon Jackson of Durban North was third with 6.8 points and 2009 SA Champion Gavin Roberts of Scottburgh failed to find a decent second scoring wave and ended third on 6,30 points.

Josh Redman and Chad du Toit (both Durban) were joint fifth with Stanley Badger of St Francis and Manfred Adrio of Durban joint seventh.

2010 SA Under 17 Champion and ISA World Junior championships finalist Sarah Baum of Athlone Park scored a massive 16,25 to relegate 2010 ISA World Masters champion Heather Clark of Port Shepstone to second place in the Women’s final. Michelle Imeson of Amanzimtoti was third and Kommetjie’s Holly Armstrong secured fourth place.

The South Coast Fever X Surf Contest was a 2A Men’s and 1A Women’s PST event hosted by Southern KZN Surfing Association and sanctioned by Surfing South Africa. It formed part of the 2010 Fever X Games which ran from December 16 to December 19.
