RVCA HAS GOOD SURF Print

Good Surf and Great Surfing For Roll With RVCA's First Event.

Port Elizabeth - The inaugural Roll With RVCA contest in Port Elizabeth saw a massive turnout at The Pipe on Sunday, the biggest turnout ever for a non-provincial event in PE. Close to 100 surfers turned out for this family contest and day at the beach. Due to the large entry, 6-man heats were the order of the day, and the event ran the entire day, with the prize giving being held in the evening shadows.

The family-based divisions proved to be popular, along with the open division, and there were some hotly contested Girls, Women, Retro and Ballies heats, with everyone eyeing out the RVCA gear prizes.

In the Girls U16 Final it was young Emma Smith who took the honours ahead of Gina Smith, Cara MacDonald and Tahra Uren while in the Ladies Final it was Laurie McGregor who took victory from Mandy Watson, Alice McGregor and Kerri Viljoen

The Ballies Division was won by Craig van Greunen from Kurt Buchner, Bobby Ellis and Wayne Klerk, while the Retro champ was Luke Bakker, who beat Brad Beck in the final.

Jose Faulkner was victorious in the U16 Boys Final from Dane van Greunen , Luke Bakker and Carl Barnard. The premier Open Division saw Jacques Du Plooy emerge victorious from Bertie Stuurman in second place, Grant Beck in third and Dylan Lightfoot in forth place.

Images and video highlights will be uploaded onto the www.zigzag.co.za portal shortly, and there will be uploads on the RVCA platforms over the next few days.

The Roll With RVCA series is hosted by Zigzag Magazine. Roll with RVCA is poised to move down the coast, with the next event scheduled for The Strand on 01 May.

About RVCA
RVCA is the brainchild of company Founder and Creative Director, PM Tenore. Transcending the boundaries of traditional action sports apparel, RVCA is a design-driven lifestyle brand free from passing trends. Appearing as a natural on the shelves of boutiques as on those of a local skate shop, RVCA is brought together by a group of likeminded individuals from various subcultures, a collaboration of sorts, a lifestyle within itself.

PM Tenore's intention from the very beginning has been to create a platform for RVCA, which combines art, music, fashion and a modern lifestyle in an original way. At the forefront of this vision has been RVCA's Artist Network Program (ANP) - a venture established to showcase the talents of accomplished as well as unknown artists who inspire our generation and push the boundaries of creative excellence.

Established to promote the genuine integrity of RVCA's subcultures while simultaneously giving back to the community, RVCA in essence is redefining the way the market views art and fashion as represented through the balance of opposites and how they coexist: water, oil; air, land; destruction, industrialization; art, science; foreign, domestic; order, anarchy; past, present.

For RVCA, it is about today, tomorrow and life as the big picture. It is about inspiring our generation, providing something of substance and culture and above all doing it with integrity and as a united family, a close-knit community.
