360 SURF RIP CURL ALKANDSTRAND CHALLENGE

The first 360 Surf, Rip Curl Alkantsstrand challenge was held at Richards Bay on 29 August 2009.

A total of 30 surfers contested in The Junior/ Open and expression divisions.

The surf ranged from perfect 4-6ft waves in the morning to 2-5ft NE affected slop in the afternoon.

Four out of towners joined the action, Beyrick de Vries, Chris  Leppan, Byron Lindsey and Mike Frew and it was great for the locals to be exposed to a new level of high performance surfing rarely seen at Richards Bay.
