Northswell Goes Down in Style Print

"North Swell goes down in Style"

1_103

Well what a contest Sunday was, the surfers were greeted with what I would say a solid 3ft swell with the odd nasty 4footer coming through in the dairy bowl, making surfing challenging but super fun. The right handers going towards the pier were offering barrels that I have not seen in ages, with guys like Dean, Luke, Jussie, Mark and a few others getting barrels in there heats...

There was some seriously amazing surfing going down with some standout surfing from guys like Mark Shepperson, Casey Grant (who I would say was the standout surfer of the day), Wok's backhand was 12 'o clock on the button all the time making him a threat for his European campaign "good luck Wok" , Luke Patterson going mental as well, Swanky who it was great to see down there was surfing really good too...

The Masters putting it on the line with a nail biting final between Dean and Jussie this division is heating up towards the end of series ratings...

The U16's and U20's showed us the older generation what to expect in the future, with Kane making both the age division finals and doing one of the sickest turns I have ever seen on a chunky cooking right hander. Scott, Beyrick, Josh, and the rest of the guys were ripping...with Scott and Beyrick showing us the new generation as well as Matt Pallet going for the unconventional lay back that really showed me what putting it on the line
was all about.

The girls surfed really well too, with Heather claiming another North Swell...and Nikita and the rest really hanging in there on some of the bigger right handers....

Apart from all the surfing the day ran smoothly and perfectly I would like to say a big thanks to Vanessa for all her hard work in getting the event entries and managing all the heats perfectly, well done! To Luke for all the prizes and being the voice and photog for the day...and in saying that I would like to thank Quicksilver, Fox, Roxy and Volcom and Thule for the prizes, and Dean for the chairs and tables and Jussie for the gazebo...

And to all the competitors and parents thank you so much for your support and see you at the next one.
Thanks Tedo
