Greetings!
Half the pics are up in the gallery – other half to come later!
A very big congratulations to all surfers who took part in the Chemspec Fun Surf Series event 2 on the weekend!
We ran two beaches at Dairy Beach and had over 100 kids surfing from over 25 schools from coast to coast as far as Port Edward to Zululand!
There was a wonderful vibe on the beach and Dads and Moms got involved in helping their little kids who all surfed with such courage in the washing surf. The NE and onshore conditions did not help but they all got through it!
A huge thanks to the following people who gave so generously:
Pepsi – Debbie McKraken – for the free cooldrinks for the kids! What a treat!
Palmers Lip Balm – Dorianne Rose – for the great product give-aways
Bioderma Sun Cream – Les Lane – for the super samples that were so needed!
Zoggs Surf Wax – Mike Larmont – for the wax – the kids loved it
Mentos – Michelle Grobler – what a hit with the kids!
G Force Boards – Rod and Graham – for the sponsored surf board for raffle
The top four kids in each division received vouchers from Larmont Surf Shop to go and shop there! Thanks so much Mike! Top prize each received R250 voucher, and so on.
If it were not for Chemspec / House of Paint – non of this would have happened – thanks to them for their great sponsorship. Don’t forget to get all your paint from them!
To all the parents – thanks so much for not complaining! And for being solution orientated – I really do believe that the helpful friendly attitude from parents has so much to do with the success and vibe of the kids – if we all work together we have more fun! You are ALL a great bunch of people and we love helping your kids grow in surfing!
To the judges – thanks guys – you all sit there in the wind wind wind…. Hot, then cold but you get through it – we are so grateful to you all.
Anne Wright for your excellent tabulating, and Natasha for yours – thanks!
Victor and Mike Pallet (and Coley for the announcing!) – thanks so much for the tabulating – it is quite something getting through so many heats in one day (nearly 60!) and making sure all the surfers are there on time in the right colour rashies!
To Calvin for the sound! You did a great job thank you – especially when you ran after the would – be thief and herded him into the police station! That was something! To Nikita and Chris - thanks for your hard work spreading news of the House of Paint Loyalty Card!
To Carol our secretary who works so hard behind the scenes – thanks soooo much! Thanks to Jo Lefevre and Jess Lefevre for helping in the shop / also to Kane Bennewith who helped caddy some girls – was hard going out there!
Finally to Charles Lefevre – who is tireless in his efforts to grow the sport of surfing! His amiable happy approach to the kids – Charles – you are a star – and I know that many many top surfers are going to be born from this series! Thanks so so very much!
The next contest will take place over TWO days! So please plan for the Sat and the Sun 15 and 16 November. Because we will be finishing at 12 on the Sunday so we can focus on the prize giving for the day and for the series.
We will be doing the prize giving at the DURBAN SURF CLUB and we will be doing a photo slide show for the kids and there will be a braai available for everyone. You will be able to buy for a very reasonable price a roll, salad and piece of meat. I will need to know numbers beforehand.
There will also be LOTS more prizes at the last event – it is going to be GREAT! J
Here are the results – for this series and for the accumulative. Don’t forget we take each surfers TOP TWO results overall and drop their worst event score for the series trophies – so each surfer gets the chance to have one bad day…..
Please let me know if there are any errors in the results that you may find! Thanks :)
Keep Surfing! Thanks again to everyone – Kind Regards Julie
