Boardriders TV takes you to Trestles, New Zealand Backcountry and the endless rights of Morocco tonight
Things kick off with the sixth stop on the WCT as the Euro Force heads to California to surf at Trestles, the only stop on the WCT in the continental US.
Although the Euros start off strong, Tiago Pires falls to Damian Hobgood in a heat he feels should have gone his way (you’ll have to watch the footage and judge for yourself) and Michel Bourez gets a great result that adds to his momentum in his quest to be the 2009 Rookie of the year. It was a different story altogether for Mikey Picon, getting decisively taken out by Mick Fanning, who was absolutely on fire from the word go.
Trestles is one of the most consistent waves on the tour and a veritable playground for airs and high performance surfing. The wave may not be the biggest but the surfing is top notch and we’ve got the best of the best from start to finish.
From one high performance spot to another, as we head to New Zealand’s snow covered mountains. The heliboarding options are never ending and it seems the Euro snow team can’t get enough of it. Mathieu Crepel, Markku Koski and Hampus Mosesson take a chopper and go searching, and when they’re bored of the natural hits they just build themselves a kicker and launch into space. They also hit up a park for some perfectly groomed goodness.
The Roxy team makes an appearance as they explore the rights of Morocco. It’s a bit of a culture shock for most of the girls but the mosques, souks and food move to the background when the girls score epic waves. Morocco may not be as warm as Indo or the Maldives, but you can ride till your legs turn to jelly and buckle underneath you on some of the point breaks. The girls seem to spend as much time riding camels as they do the solid swell.
Surf and snow from all the corners of the globe on episode 21 of Boardriders TV on SuperSport 1 at 6pm premiering on Monday 16th.
