Greetings!

 

What a great contest it was today and a HUGE well done to all the 100  kids who took part. Some of the surfers were so very small compared to the size of the waves! Thanks to all the parents who braved the cold and then the heat and supported your children! Especially those who got in the water with their kids! It was so very special to watch! The new generation getting the ‘stoke’! (as the surfers say!)

 

Thanks to House of Paint for their helicopter rides! Well done to Trevor Sicelo and Slater Rudling for winning the trips! Also thanks to Clover for their cooldrinks, Mentos and to Palmers Soft Lips and of course to G Force boards for their stickers and discounts for boards. The raffle for the board will take place at the final contest in November.

 

Charles Lefevre our Contest Director did a sterling job running between the two beaches and always with a happy attitude. Trying to fit 100 surfers into heats in a one day contest is extremely difficult!  Charles has been up late many nights working on this event and we are SO grateful to have him with KZN Surfing! Thank you Charles!

 

Charles’ entire family were there today helping out! His daughter Jess helped surfers in the water then ran the shop, then was just incredibly helpful all round paying judges and always with great attitude! Scott also helped out in the water (and got ‘worked’) and fetched and carried and sorted out branding and and and… Jo-Anne was there bright and early helping in the shop and sorting things out – THANKS TO THE WHOLE FAMILY! KZN Surfing would not be the same without you! J

 

Carol Brown and Kane also worked really hard not only today – but leading up to the event sorting out judges, printing, T-shirts, rashies etc etc – Also always smiling and getting the job done! Carol you are a star! Thank you!

 

Anne Wright our Vice Chairlady – who I PROMISED would not have to work hard if she joined the committee again! HAHA – Anne – you gave up giving Wok a lift to the airport today to carry on helping. Anne sat and tabulated and helped with the kids all day until the bitter end (after promising to pop in for an hr) – What would we do without you Anne – THANK YOU special lady!

 

To our judges – Mark, Tim, Matt, Eloine, Morgan, Wade, Cyril, Bo, Devin, - you all worked so hard and I was not aware of any complaints at all! Thank you so very much! Also to our beach marshals Victor and Moses – well done guys and to Natasha for her patience in tabulating! Thanks a million!

 

To all the parents that got involved in beach marshalling – trying to round up the kids for their heats is no easy job – you all pulled together to help and we LOVE that you help and get involved! Thanks thanks thanks!

 

To Shuan Haffenden - thanks so much for trying with the amp! We promise to have it completely sorted before the next comp! Thanks for your help! To all the moms and kids who helped with the food – thank you!

We will have lots of prizes and lucky draws at the FINAL event in November including trophies for top 8 boys and top 5 girls overall.
