Hi all, sorry for the late start to the year but its taken some time to get back on my feet after the fire at Hurricane.

On the 27^th Jan we elected the following committee:

Chairman:           Jestyn Viljoen

Vice Chairman:  James Elliot/Mo Van de Wall

Treasurer:           Julie De Vries

Secretary:           Julie De Vries

PRO:                      Ryan Butcher/Mike Frew

Non Portfolio:   Carl Roux, Glen Pheasant and Rein Van de Wall

We’ve decided to run 6 events through the calendar year with the following divisions: 

Masters (35+), Open Men’s, U18 Men’s, U14 Boys, U10 Boys, Open Girls, Junior Girls, U10 Girls and a SUP division.

With all the hype around Wizards we’ve managed to secure some amazing sponsors!

2010 Wave Wizard sponsors:

Hurricane Surf, Hurley, Carls Foods, Kulu Swimwear, Butcher Boys, Odyssey Aqua, Just Desserts and Public Address.

The first event will be held on the 14^th March at Bronze Beach Umhlanga Rocks. First heats in the water at 7:30am sharp.

The first contest will cost you R100 (R50 Subs and R50 Entry fee), now here’s the good part: All Wave Wizard members will receive the following once Subs have been paid:

1.       A Wave Wizards membership card for 2010 allowing you a 15% discount the Hurricane Surf Store in Umhlanga.

2.       A Hurley T Shirt (first 100 members)

3.       A Hurley Cap ( first 100 members)

4.       A free meal on the beach for every competitor (Just Desserts)

5.       Free water (Odyssey Aqua)

6.       R2500 prize money for the open men’s (Carls Foods)

7.       Prize money and swimwear for Ladies winners (Kulu Swimwear)

8.       Surf product for all divisions (Hurricane Surf)

9.       Meal vouches (Butcher Boys)

10.   5x Phantom True Performance awards (Hurley)

All contests will be run in accordance to KZN and SA Surfing criteria, there will be 2 paid professional judges, Tabulator, Beach Marshall and General cleaner at every event.

Entries will be taken at the Hurricane Surf Store in Umhlanga.

Also there’s a Tag team event being run in March

TAG TEAM EVENT – HOSTED BY SSA

There will be a tag team event taking place on

SUNDAY 21 March 2010.

9:00 am –

Venue decided closer the time depending on surf.

Please contact your clubs – i.e. Wave Wizards, Northswell, Skulls, Warner Boyz, North Coast etc and put your teams together.

Teams will consist of 5. (No rules apply) – any ages, gender etc.

Cost per team is R500 and the winning team will get R1500 shared among the 5 surfers.

Judging criteria will be on open men’s division.

This is going to be a really fun event and we have already received some team’s entries!
